The Turning process for a wood bowl
Wooden Bowls by Tom Cannon
The exterior of the bowl has been cut to shape and I start the hollowing of the interior. Keeping the tailstock center turned into the heavy blank for extra support.

With the tailstock removed the robot finishes hollowing the interior of the bowl. The base of the bowl is now being held by a Vicmarc expanding chuck.

Below right the roughed out Cherry bowl is ready for drying. After 7 to 12 months the moisture content of the bowl will be about 10% It will then be ready to remount back onto the lathe and turn to it's final shape and thickness.
